Charles L. Powers, Jr. of Langhorne passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Monday, July 7th at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 86.
Charles was the beloved husband of 53 years to Marguerite “Marge” M. Gallagher Powers
Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Charles L., Sr. and Jeanette McGhee Powers and brother of the late Robert M. Powers.
Mr. Powers proudly attended the Portsmouth Priory (Abbey) School and Holy Cross College. When his country needed young men for military service, Charles honorably answered the call and joined the Army Air Force and served during World War II and its aftermath. He was a pioneer in the shopping center industry and managed and operated the Moorestown Mall, Plymouth Meeting Mall and the Neshaminy Mall. Charles was Legal Counsel and advisor for the E.B. O’Reilly Corporation in Chestnut Hill.
In addition to his wife Marge, Charles is survived by his loving children; Charles L. Powers III and his wife Fanny of Boise, ID, Stephen F. Powers and his wife Christine of Columbia, MD, Sally M. Powers of Springfield, PA, and Robert A. Powers and his wife Anne of West Chester, PA. He is also the proud grandfather of 8 loving grandchildren
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Friday evening, July 11th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954 and on Saturday, July 12th, at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Ave., Feasterville, PA 19053 from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Divine Providence Village, 686 Old Marple Rd. Springfield, PA 19064.
