Elizabeth R. Cooney of New Hope passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Neshaminy Manor Home in Warrington. She was 85.

Elizabeth was the beloved wife of 62 years to Edmund J. “Ned” Cooney.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Franklin McDonald, and sister of the late Patricia McDonald.

Elizabeth grew up in West Philadelphia and was a 1947 graduate of West Philadelphia High School. Upon graduation from high school, she began to work for Bell Telephone before she began working with Wellsback Corporation Plumbing Supply.

On May 23, 1953, Elizabeth married Ned and moved to Trevose where they lived for over 33 years before moving to Buckingham Springs in 1993. Elizabeth enjoyed boating along the Delaware, taking road trips along the Blue Ridge Mountains and traveling especially her trip to Ireland. However, her true passion in life was her husband and family who loved her dearly. Her family would like to thank the Doylestown Hospital Hospice and Our Lady of Guadalupe Health and Wellness Ministry for their compassion and support that they provided to the family throughout the years.

In addition to her beloved husband Edmund, Elizabeth is survived by her two children; Kathleen Jarrett and her husband Thomas of Warrington, and Patricia Marinucci and her husband Albert of Hatboro. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren; Matthew and his wife Melissa, Daniel and his wife Meg, Patrick, Anthony, and his fiancé Ariel, and Andrew and his wife Meghan, and 4 great-grandchildren; Braeden, Liam, Declan and Harper Elizabeth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 8:00 am until her Funeral Mass at 9:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5175 Cold Spring Creamery Rd. Doylestown, PA 18940. Her interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to Ministry to Health & Wellness, c/o Our Lady of Guadalupe at the above address.
