Dr. Valerio John Federici of Langhorne died Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. He was 92.

 

Valerio was the beloved husband of 59 years to Florence E. Mikulka Federici.

 

Born in DuBois, PA, he was the son of Benigno and Anesina who were from Colli di Barete, L’Aquila, Italy.

 

Valerio was a graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia and LaSalle College. A 1948 graduate of Jefferson Medical College, he completed his senior internship with the US Army at Walter Reed General Hospital as a 1st Lieutenant and completed his residency at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He practiced as a general surgeon predominantly at St. Mary Hospital in Philadelphia and St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. He selflessly gave his time to his patients until his retirement in 1990. He lived life on his own terms, was an avid collector, and always enjoyed a good cigar.

 

 In addition to his wife Florence, Valerio is survived by his children, Christina Owens and her husband Michael of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Benigno Federici and his wife Jana of Suffolk, Virginia; and David Federici and his wife Christine of Langhorne PA. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Samantha, Steven, Kori, Maria, Valerio, Gabriella, Carter and Marco. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Fioravanti, and grandson, Alexi Owens.

 

 Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family, Friday, January 9th from 10:00 am until his Funeral Mass 11:00 am in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will be private.
