R. Barry Uber of New Hope died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vermont. He was 69.
Barry was the beloved husband of 20 years to Kathleen M. Lawlor Uber.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Raymond Bernard and Doris Jean Luciano Uber.
Barry was a former resident of Hilton Head Island, SC, before moving to New Hope in 2012. Mr. Uber received Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Penn State University in 1969, where he received an Alumni Fellow Award in 1996.
Barry was a seasoned executive in Manufacturing and for the past ten years, a private equity investor. Mr. Uber served for 30 years at Ingersoll-Rand Company, ending his career there as President of Construction and Mining. Barry served as a Partner of Coastal Capital Consultants, L.L.C., President and Chief Executive Officer of North American Van Lines (NAVL), Executive Chairman of Tread Corporation and Oneida Molded Plastics, LLC and as a Director of Measurement Specialties Inc.
Barry was a member of the Doylestown Country Club and in his leisure; he enjoyed being with family, the Jersey shore, golf, fishing and cooking. In addition to his beloved wife Kathy, Barry is survived by his daughters, Lisa M. Carguello and her spouse Terry of Fayetteville, NY and E. Shane Uber and her partner Jason Rice of Island Heights, NJ and his 3 step daughters, Tracy Denton and her spouse Brenda Welsh of Allentown, Suzanne Denton of New York, Alanna Vallee and her spouse Josh of Bedford, MA. Barry is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara, John, Mark and Claire Carguello, his step grandchild Max Vallee. He is also survived by his sister Eileen Ward and her husband Don of Boyertown along with their daughter Dana Veljacic.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 10:00 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA 18901. Barry’s interment will be private.
