Doris W. Reese of Warrington and a former long time resident of the Somerton section of Philadelphia died peacefully on Saturday January 3, 2015 at Abington Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was 87.
Doris was the wife of the late Harold Reese.
Born in Richboro, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marjorie Strong Wilson.
Doris graduated from the former Richboro High School and went on to study hair dressing at the Wilfred Academy. She was employed as a hair dresser for years before having children and then later worked in retail for Strawbridge and Clothier and as an administrator for Gill Brothers Oil.
She was a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus for over 20 years and was also actively involved in the Somerton Women’s Club. Doris was a talented cook known for baking amazing pies, and was a gifted seamstress, calligrapher and tap dancer.
Perhaps most of all, however, Doris will be remembered for her warmth of heart and her devotion to her loving family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Doris is survived by her children, David Reese and his wife, Carol, of Holland, Gail Bonilla and her husband, Chris, of Burlington, NJ, and Donna Fitts and her husband, Harry, of Warrington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Reese, Kevin, Steven, and Nicole Fitts; and her sister, Marjorie Shelmire of Doylestown.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister Helen McKendry.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 10:00 AM until her memorial service 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. Her interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
