Maureen H. McMurdo-Chapman, of Chalfont died suddenly on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Abington Memorial Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 69.
She was the beloved wife of Lawrence P. Chapman. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Quinn McMurdo.
Maureen was a resident of Sharon Hill, Delaware County from 1974 to 1998, and during that time served as a member of the Southeast DELCO School Board. She and her husband have been residents of the New Britain-Chalfont community for the past 15 years. Maureen was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls, class of 1963. She later attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with her degree in Political Science.
Maureen was a motivated woman, with many goals. She worked as the head field auditor for the Philadelphia region of Cigna Insurance Company for over 25 years. During that time Maureen attended St. Joseph’s University, and received her Masters in Business Administration and was very proud of her accomplishment. Presently she was working for Acadia Mortgage, LLC, of Chalfont, as Senior Operations Manager.
Maureen was very much a family person; she loved her husband and sons dearly, she looked forward to spoiling her dear grandchildren whom she loved so much.. She made time for working in her flower garden and was an avid reader. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends
In addition to her beloved husband, she is also survived by her 3 sons, Michael L. Chapman and his wife Suzanne of Chalfont, James W. Chapman of Willow Grove and Stephen P. Chapman and his wife Ann Marie of Aston PA, her 5 dear grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; Lily, Mackenzie, Jacob, Finn and Maxxwell. She is also survived by her brother, J. Michael McMurdo of Chalfont and her sister Judith A. McMurdo of Horsham.
Maureen’s family will receive condolences on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 10:00 am until her Words of Remembrance Service at 12 Noon, in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214.
