Joan A. Lydon, of Jamison, PA died on November 4, 2014 at Abington Hospice at Warminster. She was 83.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Early McGrath.
Joan grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Little Flower High School. She moved to Bucks County in 1965, although she moved several times, she remained in the Lower Bucks area was a resident and has lived in Jamison, for the past 9 years.
Joan was always friendly and outgoing; meeting new people and making friends everywhere she went. This was especially true at the Doylestown Wellness Center Pulmonary Rehabilitation unit. Always with a smile on her face and a warm greeting she made friends with patients and workers with ease.
Her talent to make people comfortable was also extended to the community, dedicating her time and talent as a Certified Alcohol Counselor to those in need at the Livengrin Foundation. She worked there for many years before stepping down in the 1990’s.
Her loving and caring ways will long be remembered and admired by those she helped, but most especially by her family.
She is survived by her children Joan A. and Mark Cahill of Perkasie, Jackie Halgash of Perkasie, Jean and John Perry of Ottsville, Janet and Harvey Shuhart of Doylestown, Jill and Michael Rieder of Telford, Julie and Paul Pilkerton of Warminster, and E.J. and Margie Lydon of Horsham, her brother Jack and Barbara McGrath of Philadelphia and her sister Helen and Fred Semrau of NJ. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 9:00 am until her Funeral Mass 10:00 am at St. Cyril of Jerusalem, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, PA 18929. Her interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Abington Hospice at Warminster, Abington Health Center, 225 Newtown Road, Warminster, PA 18974 or to St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church at the above address.
