William H. Cornell of Buckingham Springs died on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at Neshaminy Manor Home. He was 87.

        Bill was the beloved husband of 63 years to Catherine Moore Cornell. Born in Abington he was the son of the late Hogeland B. and Genevieve (nee George) Cornell and brother of the late Donald G. Cornell.

        Bill was a resident of Churchville for most of his life having moved to Buckingham Springs in 2002. He was a graduate of Richboro High School, class of 1945. Bill joined the United States Army in 1945 and served as a Sergeant during World War II in the Military Police. His professional career spanned over 35 years as a Machinist and Tool and Die maker working for Huntingdon Industries in Huntingdon Valley, and General Machine Products in Trevose, retiring in 1992.

        Bill enjoyed bowling, bocci, horseshoes and the Phillies. He so loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

        In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children and their spouses; Patricia Ann Cornell and her husband Gene Jonson, Susan Cornell Post and her husband Russell, Robert Cornell and his wife Brendalee, one sister Barbara A. Wiley. He is also survived by his five dear grandchildren; Kyle and Evan Jonson, Genevieve Post, Erin and Aidan Cornell.

        Bill’s family will receive condolences on Monday December 8, 2014 from 9:00am until his Funeral Service 10:00 am in St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

        In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. John’s United Methodist Church at the above address.
