Katharine T. “Kate” Galdi of Holland passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Cooper University Hospital following a brave battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was 39.
Kate was the beloved wife of nine years to Andrew S. Galdi.
Born in Philadelphia she was the loving daughter of John Sammon and the late Frances Nitka Sammon.
Raised in Lower Makefield, Kate graduated from Pennsbury High School, class of 1993. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in education from Bloomsburg University and she was later awarded her Master’s degree in Education from Neumann College.
Kate spent her career as an educator teaching for the Pennsbury School District, where she most recently taught 8th grade English for Charles Boehm Middle School. She had a deep love and passion for learning and was an avid reader and writer. Kate also possessed a great appreciation for art and sculpture and enjoyed going to museums whenever she had the chance.
Most of all, however, Kate took the most pride in being a devoted mom to her two adoring children. She possessed an immense amount of strength and fortitude in her daily life and in her battle with cancer and her indelible spirit will be cherished by her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband and father, Kate is survived by her children, Noelle and William; her sister, Andrea Macerato and her husband, Michael; her niece MaryKate and her niece and Goddaughter, Gwen. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Carol A. Galdi and countless relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 9:00-11:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966, where her funeral mass will begin at 11:30 AM. Her interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Gilda’s Club of the Delaware Valley, 200 Kirk Rd., Warminster, PA 1897
