     Charles E. Leva, of Langhorne, PA, died peacefully, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Brookdale Senior Living in Richboro. His family appreciates the caring staff of Brookdale and Crossroads Hospice. They kept him smiling and comfortable to the end. He was 89.

     Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Emiddio and Mary Ellis Leva.

     Charles was a longtime resident of Bucks County, having formerly resided in Ocean City, NJ, Doylestown and Yardley, before moving to Richboro. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Army. He received the Jubilee of Liberty Medal for participating in the invasion of Normandy Beach. Charles was a partner in Bodine Construction Company in Rockledge, PA, which specialized in sewer and water construction. After selling the business, Charles worked for Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City, for Cape May County Highway Department and the township of Doylestown. He retired at eighty years of age.

     Charles was proud of his years of membership in the Serra Club whose mission is to foster and affirm vocations to the priesthood and vowed religious life.  

     In his leisure, he enjoyed quality times spent with his family boating and fishing in Ocean City, NJ. Charles was an avid reader, journal writer, and history buff. He was known for vividly sharing memories of his life experiences.

     Charles was the loving father of Lynn A. Nucera and the late Lori Leva. He was the devoted grandfather of Tony and his wife, Sara, Tracie, Charles and his wife, Tracy and Lindsay Nucera and proud great-grandfather of, “his babies”, Hunter, Eva, Emma, and Brooke Nucera. He will be truly missed by his son-in-law and pal, Dominic Nucera. Charles is the brother of David of Cheltenham, PA and the late Mary Daulerio, Rose Slouskey, Nanette Sciolla, Peter and Edward Leva.

     His funeral service and interment will be held privately in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

     In memory of Charles, tax deductible contributions may be made to his granddaughter, Tracie Nucera’s, non-profit animal rescue, Safe Cat Network 11 Creek Road P.O. Box 24, Virginville, PA 19564. Pop Pop was so proud of Tracie’s animal rescue work.
