Joseph A. Fluehr Jr.
Joseph A. Fluehr Jr. of Philadelphia and formerly of Southampton died peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2009, at Lafayette Redeemer Health Care. He was 90. He was the beloved husband of 14 years to June K. Mink Fluehr. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Fluehr Sr. and Alys Munch Fluehr and husband of the late Elizabeth Meehan Fluehr. Joe was a 1937 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and attended St. Joseph’s University. In 1949 he founded J. A. Fluehr Furniture Co., in the Logan section of Philadelphia; later he started Fluehr and Allen Interior Design and Decoration, which is still in operation today. Joe was a 14-year resident of Southampton, a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and a former member of the Lions Club and the Serra Club. He shared many travel adventures at home and abroad with his family. He was an avid boater and fisherman who enjoyed his lucky streaks when fishing -- and when playing games of chance. He will be sadly missed by his loving family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Joseph A. Fluehr III and his wife Christine M., of Richboro; James M. Fluehr Sr. and his wife Helen, of Southampton; Edythe Mary Merritt and her husband Robert J., of Vero Beach, Fla.; Eva Andrea Albert and her husband Dr. John G., of Manlius, NY; Thomas A. Fluehr Sr. and his wife Susan, of Alamo, California; Mary F. McQuiggan and her husband John J., of Abington; Lawrence L. Fluehr of Warminster; Margaret Mary Bauer and her husband Mark P., of Warrington, and his brother, Charles F. Fluehr and his wife Ann of Cheltenham. Also surviving are his step children, Ferne A. Abramson and her husband Gilbert, Esq., of Upper Gwynedd, and Gary W. Mink and his wife Linda, of Harvey Cedars, NJ, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd.
