James A. Flint, III, of Quakertown, formerly of Churchville, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 9th as a result of pancreatic cancer at the age of 73.
Born in Williamstown, NJ, he was the son of the late Mary Paul and James A. Flint, Jr.
Jim is the beloved husband of 34 years to Carol (James) Flint.
A graduate of Frankford High School, he attended Spring Garden Institute, Drexel University and Trenton State College. In his early years he was employed by the United States Rubber Co. where a patent was issued to Jim as co-inventor of “Method of Molding Positive Drive/Timing Belts”. Jim was later employed by Philco Division, Boonshaft & Fuchs, Inc., Weston Instruments, and Control Concepts, Inc. Jim was a Professional Engineer, holding a license in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, specializing in mechanical engineering. Later employed by the Department of Defense for over 25 years, he worked for the Army at Fort Dix, the Air Force at Maguire AFB, the Navy at Trenton and the Air Force at Willow Grove.
After retiring in 2003 he thoroughly enjoyed tinkering in his garage with his various motors, engines and tractors and held a special love of old planes and trains. An avid outdoorsman in his youth, he loved hunting, fishing and riding his Indian motorcycle. He was a longtime member of the Souderton-Harleysville Game and Fish Assoc. and shot competitively for several years, and was one of the top qualifiers for the State of Pennsylvania high power rifle shooting competition. Recently, Jim became an active member of the Perkiomen Sportsman Association. With a wealth of knowledge, Jim was always ready to help anyone in need. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by his sons, Leslie Flint and wife, Karen of New Hope; Todd Warner of Langhorne; Kevin Warner and wife, Alyson of Alexandria, VA,; his daughters, Lynn Warner of Quakertown, Ann Elizabeth DeFrangesco of Trappe; dear granddaughter, Alexandra of Quakertown; dear sister and caregiver, Joyce Flint, R.N. of Florida and brother, John Flint of New Jersey.
