(nee Russo) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2010 in Langhorne, PA. She was 87.
Irene was born on September 4, 1923 in Paterson, NJ to Vincenzo and Anna (Picone) Russo. She graduated from Eastside High School in 1941 and then attended The College of Paterson. She worked for Curtiss Wright Corporation in Fairfield, NJ as a secretary supporting the defense effort during WWII. In 1947, she married Louis De Caprio, also of Paterson, NJ, and became a homemaker.
In 1987, Mrs. De Caprio moved to Bucks County, PA where she resided with her daughter and her family for the remainder of her life. During her life, Mrs. De Caprio devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to many family members. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed the company of her family and friends as well as cooking wonderful Italian food. We will sadly miss her warmth and welcoming personality.
Mrs. De Caprio is survived by her three children and their families: Dominick and Janet De Caprio of Newtown, PA; Vincent and Mary Lou De Caprio of Mountain Lakes, NJ; and Edie and Dominick Commodaro of New Hope, PA; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis De Caprio, in 1978 and by sister, Edith Russo, in 1947.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Friday October 15, 2010 from 7-9pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9am on Saturday October 16 at St. George RC Church , 1370 River Rd., Titusville, NJ 08560. Friends located in the Totowa area are invited to attend the Graveside Service at 12 o’clock noon at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
