James L. Appenzeller of New Britain died on Friday, October 22, 2010, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown. He was 72.
He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Beverly V. Mrozek Appenzeller. Born in Sterling Illinois, he was the son of the late John and Helen Howard Appenzeller.
Jim was a graduate of Sterling High School class of 1956. He played varsity basketball winning many awards and was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He has been a resident of New Britain, for the past 38 years. Jim retired from Sperry Univac Company in 1990, after a successful career as a Computer Engineer. Jim loved people and children, so after he retired he went to work for the Central Bucks School District as a Bus Driver and over the years won “Driver of the year.” He was a former real estate broker in commercial real estate in the Montgomery County area; he also worked for Commerce Trucking Company in their Agriculture Distribution. As a father he was devoted to his family and helped his daughter Jami, working has her distribution manager for her PhillyFIT Magazine.
In his spare time Jim enjoyed tennis, supporting the Phillies, Eagles and spending time with his grandchildren. His family came first and foremost, but his two English Shepherd and Collie mix dogs Butch and Dutch kept his attention and he loved to spoil them by taking them to Lake Galena and walking the trails.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughters; Lori V. Piatanesi and the late Reno of Santa Rosa CA, Jami L. Appenzeller and her husband Lloyd G. Yancey of Southampton, his two sisters Betty Ward and Pat Fisher both of Rock Falls, Illinois, and the proud grandfather of; Derek James Exner, Darion Jordan Griggs and Savannah Love Yancey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 9:30am until his Funeral Service 11:00AM from the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain. Interment will be in Beulah Cemetery in New Britain.
