Charles G. Semet Jr., “Charlie” of Hilltown, PA died suddenly on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. He was 70. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Heather Smallman Semet. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles G. Sr. and Frieda Mannschreck Semet. Charlie grew up in Jarrettown, went to Upper Dublin High School and joined the Naval Reserves before he graduated in 1958. Soon after graduating he went active in the military and was stationed at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station. He served at Willow Grove for many years and before taking a position with the Department of Agriculture public works division in Wyndmoor, PA. In time Charlie, returned to Willow Grove where was welcomed back and served as one of the Foreman in the Naval Air Station public works division. During his time at the base, Charlie served in many capacities doing whatever was requested of him. He especially enjoyed working as the Firearms Instructor for the Police and NRA, and utilized this talent as a sharpshooter for the Willow Grove NAS team during their inter-base competitions. Charlie is better known for his over 35 years of service to the Central Bucks community. Serving as a part-time police officer with the New Britain Borough Police Department he enjoyed the many relationships he developed with those he served in the community. When he was not working, Charlie enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He would go to Cameron County where he loved to hunt and where he maintained his hunting cabin for many, many years. And during the summers he spent his time working at home on his vegetable garden that was always provided enough for his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children Wendy A. Hoag and her husband Mark of Santa Clara, CA, Charles D. "Chip" Semet and his wife Karen of Alburtis, PA, Christopher S. Semet and his wife Molly of Kearney, MO, his sister and brother in law Linda and Glenn Curtis of Bernville, PA and his brother and sister in law Robert J. and Roberta Semet of Ambler. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and his one great-granddaughter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday, November 1, 2010 from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service 11:00 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, 1760 S. Easton Road, Doylestown, PA 18901
