Winfield G. Klein,” Doc” formerly of North East Philadelphia and Gloria Dei Estates, died peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2010 ,at St. Joseph's Manor . He was 95.
He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine C. Taylor Klein.
Born in Philadelphia PA, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane McMullen Klein.
“Doc”as he was known, was a former resident of the Kensington and Torresdale sections of Philadelphia before moving to Gloria Dei Estates 12 years ago. Doc retired in 1976 after a successful career as an accountant for 32 years with Gulf Oil Company.
His family was first and foremost; his children and grandchildren and now his great grandchildren were the apple of his eyes. Doc loved to sing and was active with the choir at Gloria Dei, where he also enjoyed playing pinochle. Traveling to the Jersey shore and especially his summers on the beaches of North Wildwood are memories his family will have forever.
He is survived by his devoted children and their spouses; Mary Anne Monaghan and her husband, Thomas, of Doylestown, Kathleen K. Gable and her husband, Joseph, of Jamison, Patricia K. Smith and her husband, Joseph ,of Churchville, George W. Klein and his wife, Kathleen, of Collingswood, NJ., his sister Maria Guilmartin of N. Wildwood, NJ. He is also survived by 9 dear grandchildren; Sharon, John, Jeanine, Monica, Lisa, Gregory, Kristina, Timothy and Michelle, and 12 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, from 9:00 AM until words of remembrance 9:50 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church ,1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison, PA 18929. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Gloria Dei Estates Choir, 1304 Rhawn St., Philadelphia, PA 19111
