Louise S. Spellman Carpenter, formerly of Churchville and Holland, PA died on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Jeanes Hospital. She was 95.
She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Carpenter. Born in Waterbury CT, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Margretta Hughes Spellman.
Louise was a graduate of Catholic High School, Waterbury, CT, class of 1933 and earned her degree in French and Latin at Marymount College of New York, graduating as Valedictorian of the class of 1937. Louise was an educator who loved children and taught 5 grade at Kiser Elementary School in Stanley NC., before moving to Bucks County where she taught at St. Andrews Elementary School for 15 years. She moved from working in the classroom to working in the front office at St. Andrews for 17 years before retiring in 2007at the age of 92. Louise was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a resident of Churchville for over 30 years before moving to Twining Village in Holland where she lived for 2 years. Since this past summer she was a resident of Lafayette Redeemer in Philadelphia.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; William G. Carpenter and his wife Noel of San Jose CA, Christine A. Stanton and her husband James of Alpharetta, GA and Catherine G. Scarpello and her husband Dr. Gary, PhD., of Dresher PA. Louise is also survived by her 6 dear grandchildren; Darby, Alina, Laura, Carolyn, Diane, and Greg.
Louise’s family will receive condolences on Saturday December 4, 2010 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church 654 Hatboro Rd. Richboro. Interment will be private at St. Andrews Cemetery, Newtown.
