Edward P. Brown of Warwick passed peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Doylestown Hospital with his beloved family by his side. He was 81.
He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Ethel Ann “Toots”VonBueren Brown. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Tamasaukas Brown and brother of the late John Brown.
Ed was a resident of Warwick for the past 8 years having formerly lived in Churchville for over 45 years. He was a graduate of Northeast High School, class of 1947. Ed attended Drexel University studying Electrical Engineering. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he was a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the Seabees. During the Korean War in the Philippines Ed received honors dedication in boot camp for his electrical expertise.
Ed’s professional career spanned over 35 years with Bell of PA as a power engineer in the Telecommunications division, he retired in 1985. Ed not only served his country, also his church and community. He was a faithful and active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Ivyland for over 40 years and was active on many committees. Ed was elected Judge of Elections, for Northampton Township District # 2, for 8 years and most recently continued his community service as a Warwick voting machine inspector. He was a Mason and member of the Solomon Lodge # 3 F & AM, the Allentown Consistory and active with the LuLu Temple Shrine.
Ed was an avid family man, reader, aviation buff, gardener and woodcarver and member of the Churchville Nature center. He enjoyed traveling the globe with his wife Toots and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda Hoffman and her husband Ira of Solebury and his son Michael E. Brown of Pipersville, and his dear granddaughter Erica Marshall.
Ed’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 1:00pm until his Memorial Service 1:30pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland PA 18974, with additional fellowship to follow. Interment will be at a later date in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to St. John's Endowment Fund, 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland PA 18974 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St. Phila PA 19140.
