John J. Magee of Holland died peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, surrounded by his family at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse, Philadelphia. He was 77.
He was the beloved husband of Mary P. Conlon Magee for 42 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Anna Roach Magee and brother of the late Charles Magee and Rosemary Brill.
Mr. Magee was a resident of Holland for the past 35 years. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1951. He received his Bachelor’s degree in physics from St. Joseph University and his Master’s degree in mathematics from Villanova University. Mr. Magee was employed for many years as a systems analyst with IBM before retiring in 1988. In his leisure time he liked to travel and was an avid film collector who had a special interest in silent films. He always enjoyed family movie nights with his children. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Charles J. Magee and his wife, Qian, of Alexandria, VA, John P. Magee and his wife, Erica, of Mount Laurel, NJ, Joseph T. Magee and his fiancee’, Dawn Rock, of New Cumberland, PA, Robert A. Magee and his wife, Michelle, of Houston, TX, Thomas M. Magee of Philadelphia, PA, and Mary J. Eidson and her husband, Duncan, of Hatboro, PA. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren; John, Amelie, Aidan, Josh, and Finn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 11, 2010, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201-3413.
