Matilda E. Gartner Cockroft, of Warminster died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 13, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. She was 87.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cockroft.
Born in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Amalie Gartner.
Mrs. Cockroft has been a resident of Holland since 2005. Prior to her move she was a resident of Warminster for 42 Years. Matilda immigrated from Germany with her parents and eventually settled at a farm in Philadelphia which eventually became the location of LaSalle University. She graduated from Little Flower High School and was an avid Bassoon player. Matilda was a faithful and active parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Church. She devoted many years volunteering at the church in honor of her deep love for God. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and being a loving mother and grandmother, and also a devoted foster parent to many children through out her life.
Matilda will be sorely missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know and love her.
Matilda is survived by her loving and devoted children, John M. Cockroft of Wayne, PA, James F. Cockroft of Milford, MA, Patricia A. Berry of Narberth, PA, and Mary A. Hall and her husband Steve of Holland, PA. She is also survived by her 12 dear grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings, Thursday evening December 16, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm from the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd., (at Holland Road), Richboro, and on Friday morning at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Rd. Richboro, PA 18954 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am.
In Lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102 Phila. PA 19106
