Edward C. Zimmerman, Sr. died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown. He was 84.
Edward was the beloved husband to Anna L. Haegele Zimmerman for 63 years.
Born in Ardsley, PA, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Anna W. Clark Zimmerman.
Edward was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to the Village of Buckingham Springs in 1990. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in Japan and Korea. Upon his return after the War, Ed worked as a conductor until his retirement in 1988 with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central and Conrail in their freight divisions. He was an avid reader, collector of train memorabilia and enjoyed boating and fishing. He volunteered his time with the Rockledge Fire Company and will be remembered as loving and dedicated husband to his loving wife Anna.
In addition to his beloved wife Anna, Edward is survived by his dearest son Edward C. Zimmerman, Jr. and his wife Doreen of Las Vegas, his brothers and sister, George Zimmerman of Hatfield, Albert Zimmerman and his wife Rosemarie of Florida, Joseph Zimmerman and his wife Genevieve of Florida and Anna Van Artsdalen of Doylestown. Also survived by his grandchildren Edward Zimmerman, III and Jessica and his niece Carol Miller of Great Mills, Maryland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend to his viewing Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 8:30am until his Funeral Service 10:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of a donor’s choice.
