Edith Malone Bergner of New Hope, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at her son’s home surrounded by her family. She was 83.
She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred R. Bergner.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Castor Gardens section, she was the daughter of the late David J. and Eva Parker Malone.
Mrs. Bergner was a resident of Buckingham Springs for the past year and formerly lived in Penns Park for 44 years. Edith graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia. She was employed as an office manager in the medical field for over 35 years. Mrs. Bergner was a member of Anchor Presbyterian Church for many years where she was an elder and former treasurer. She enjoyed going to the theater, travelling, and dining out where desert was her favorite part of the meal. Being family oriented, her most enjoyable times were spent with her son and daughter-in-law and four granddaughters. She will be sadly missed as a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her son, Alan R. Bergner and his wife, Denise, of Buckingham, her two sisters, Jeanette McCorkle and her husband, Frank, of Exton, Doris Sawyer of Glenside, and her two brothers, David Malone and his wife, Joan, of Philadelphia and Richard Malone and his wife, Delores, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her four loving granddaughters, Kristin Marie, Lindsay Katherine, Carly Morganne, and Erin Leah.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday evening, January 28, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 10:00 AM at the Anchor Presbyterian Church, 980 Durham Road, Wrightstown, PA 18940. Interment will take place at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.
