James W. Hoffman of Bel Air, MD died peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 94.

He was the beloved husband of the late Kathryn E. Cantwell Hoffman.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Augusta Rathgeber Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman was a resident of Bel Air, MD for the past seven years. He formerly lived in Buckingham and Churchville, PA for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a very talented painter who worked with both oil and acrylic paints. Mr. Hoffman was a family oriented individual who enjoyed the special times spent with his family. He will be sadly missed as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia A. Freiberger and her husband, Herbert, of Bel Air, MD and Dianne Hoffman of Newark, DE. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Harry Morris and his wife, Jayne, of Coventry, RI, Kathryn King and her husband, Mark, of Gainesville, VA, Anjanette Auth of Bel Air, MD, Adrienne Bartoline of Newark, DE, and four great grandchildren; Ariana, Rachel, Connor and Juliette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Sunday evening, March 6, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road( Richboro, PA 18954 and to his Funeral Mass on Monday, March 7, 2011, 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA. Interment will take place at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
