Robert D. DeFazio of Langhorne died Monday July 28, 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne surrounded by his loving family. He was 70.
Robert was the beloved husband of 50 years to Diane M. Rusteika DeFazio.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Sarachilli DeFazio and brother of the late Catherine Bender and brother-in-law of the late Edward Merwitz.
Robert was a resident of Langhorne for 41 years having formerly resided in Bristol Borough. He was the founder and owner of DeFazio Piping Inc. which eventually became Gerard Companies located in Bristol until his retirement in 2010. Robert had volunteered his time and talents throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Bristol-Levittown Kiwanis Club and also was a member of the 5th Ward Mutual Aid Club in Bristol. For many years, Robert had coached Little League Baseball in Bristol Borough and also Little League Baseball and Football in Newtown. He was, along with his wife, the owner of Phar-Omar Arabians and enjoyed breeding and showing horses across the U.S. and Canada. Robert was a member of the Arabian Horse Association and as well as the United States Equestrian Federation. He competed/won in Driving Classes at many Regional and National championships and competitions and had earned the respect and admiration of all. His greatest reward as a breeder was having one of his horses that he bred, be crowned U.S. National Champion.
In addition to his beloved wife Diane, Robert is survived by his cherished son Rob G. DeFazio of Langhorne, his sister Rosemarie Merwitz of Langhorne and his brother Joseph G. DeFazio of Bluffton, SC. He is also survived by his Godson Joseph DeFazio, his nieces Christina and Mary Catherine Merwitz along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to express their condolences from 10:30 am until his Funeral Mass 11:30am on Saturday August 2nd in the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Private family interment will be held at a future date in time.
