Mary C. Merlino Lello, 92, of Doylestown, PA, formerly of Laflin, passed away Friday, March 4 at Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, PA.
Born in Hudson, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Sabbato and Viola Mirra Merlino.
She retired from the Consolidated Cigar Company in West Pittston after thirty one years of service. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, friends, and attending church. She was a communicant of St. Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church since 1979. Mary and her late husband Dave hosted countless family dinners and parties at their home and Mary provided her own home made ravioli, gnocchis, pizza and other Italian dishes, which were beyond compare.
Mary was a kind, compassionate and generous human being who gave to life far more than she took and did, indeed, leave the world better than she found it.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dave in 1992 ; sister Eleanor Costello, brothers, Johnny Merlino who was killed in World War II, and Frank Merlino.
Mary is survived by her son David Lello and his life partner John Sandy of Doylestown, PA, sisters Rose Rubino of Laflin, Louise Materazzi of Etters, PA, brother Dominick Merlino and his wife Caroline of Bath, PA, and sister-in-law Grace Merlino of Hudson, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 10, at the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main Street in Plains, PA, 18705. Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. There will also be a viewing, Friday, March 11, 2011 at Saint Maria Goretti Church 42 Redwood Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 from 10 A.M — 10: 45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Her interment will be held at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Plains.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Neshaminy Manor, 1660 Easton Road, Warrington, PA 18976.
