Freda H. Costigan of Jamison died peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 65.
She was the beloved wife of the late John J. “Jack” Costigan.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Pauline Kaupp Hahn and sister of the late Carl G. Hahn.
Freda was a resident of Jamison for the past 55 years. She graduated from Central Bucks High School, Class of 1963. Before her retirement in 1993, she was employed as a bank teller for 25 years at Cheltenham Savings Bank at both Glenside and Hatboro branches. In the early 1970’s, she and her late husband established a family cleaning business for commercial offices. Always by his side, she helped him run this business for many years. She was a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jamison and remained active with the church throughout the years. Freda was a lady who possessed a certain inner strength and determination which helped her overcome many obstacles during her twenty six year battle with multiple sclerosis.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Phillies fan, going to the shore, and taking trips to the casinos. She especially cherished the times spent with her children and grandsons. Freda will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her two children, Annette Marie Costigan and John J. Costigan Jr. and his wife, Heather, all of Jamison, her two sisters, Edith Chesney and her husband, Duane, of Lancaster, PA, Pauline Kehler and her husband, Wally, of Furlong, PA and her three loving grandsons, JT, Joey, and Jake Costigan.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 26, 2011, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2100 York Road, Jamison, PA 18929. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
