Michael James Piazza of Newtown died suddenly on Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 59.
He was the beloved and devoted husband of 33 years to Eileen Gallagher Piazza.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anne Pepolino Piazza and brother of the late Joseph Piazza.
Michael was a former resident of Queens, New York before moving to Newtown in 1989. He was a 4th Degree Knight, and a member of the Raymond V. Hennessy, Knights of Columbus Council #6145 and faithful and active Communicant and Usher at the Church of St. Andrew in Newtown. Michael had worked as the Disaster Recovery Specialist for over three years with Active Health Management in New York, New York. In his leisure, Michael enjoyed hosting the “Oldies but Goodies Show” every Sunday from 12noon to 3:00pm for WTSR Radio for the College of New Jersey. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Mets fan. Michael will be deeply missed by his family and by everyone that truly experienced the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife Eileen, Michael is survived by their loving children, Annette M. Piazza and John M. Piazza of Newtown, his two brothers, John Piazza of Beverly Hills, FL and Stephen Piazza of Queens, NY and his sister, Eileen Piazza of Dallas, Texas. Michael is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday evening ONLY, March 28, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), and to his Funeral Mass 11:00am Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Church of St. Andrew 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, Greater Philadelphia and Southeastern NJ, 150 Monument Road-Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
