Margaret Elizabeth Wunder Haviland of Ann’s Choice in Warminster died peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Abington Memorial Hospital.

She was 92.

There is joy and dancing in Heaven today as Margaret joins her sisters, Laura and Mary, and her brother, Bill.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph E. Haviland, Sr. for 70 years. They were married in Manassas, Virginia in 1940 and lived through Ernie’s military service and injuries in World War II.

Margaret and Ernie were original homeowners in Levittown where they raised their three sons in an atmosphere of unconditional love and support. Their home was the site of many backyard picnics, card parties, family and neighborhood gatherings, and a Christmas party that has been held annually for over 55 years.

Margaret’s first job was with Tastykake in Philadelphia, and she retired from Educational Testing Service in 1984. She and Ernie spent many years in retirement, traveling, enjoying their seven grandchildren, and seeing the arrivals of 12 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was deeply religious and let her life speak for itself. She was an early member of the First Baptist Church of Levittown-Fairless Hills and served her church as a deaconess and as a member of many committees. If someone was ill, she was at their door with a cake, pot of soup or a meal. She always kept her bag of knitting or crocheting by her living room chair, and her family and friends were the recipients of many handmade sweaters, baby blankets, and afghans.

Many times, Margaret said that she was blessed by a loving mother (Laura Drumheller) and husband, and her sons and their families. She was not shy about showing her love.

Margaret is survived by her husband and her three sons and their wives: Joseph E. Haviland, Jr., and his wife Bobbie of Media, Robert E. Haviland and his wife Linda of Levittown, and James A. Haviland and his wife Claudia of Levittown. Her treasured grandchildren are Kelliann Dougherty, Lisa Haviland, Sara Jackson, Robert Haviland, Rebecca Haviland, and Courtney Greenberg. She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law, Dolores Wunder, and many very special nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved first grandson, Joseph Ernest Haviland, III.

Margaret’s family will receive condolences on Friday, April 15, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until her Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro. Interment will be in Newtown Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Levittown-Fairless Hills, 6131 Bristol Emilie Road Post Office Box 777, Levittown, PA 19058-0777.
