Rosalia B. Pfaff, of Warrington, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Pine Run Health Center, Doylestown. She was 84.
She was the beloved wife of 45 years to William H. Pfaff.
Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Eugenio T. Baltazar and Teodora Sembrano Baltazar.
Rosalia was a graduate of St. Theresa’s College of Manila with bachelor’s degrees in English and education and summa cum laude honors. Rosalia came to the United States in the 1950s after receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to study at The Catholic University of America, where in 1957 she earned a master’s degree in speech and drama. She then taught as a college instructor in the Philippines before returning to the United States in 1963 to study library science at Villanova University. Rosalia and her beloved William eventually met while both were attending daily mass in Ardmore, Pa., and married on April 24, 1965.
Rosalia took pride in becoming a U.S. citizen in 1969 shortly after she and her family had moved to Roslyn, Pa., where over the next nine years, she also started some of her more meaningful, lifelong friendships.
For 33 years, Rosalia was a resident of Warrington and a faithful parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family. She especially cherished spending time with her only grandchild, Tara Pfaff.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Armando S. Baltazar; his wife, Tessie; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of the Philippines. Also surviving are Rosalia’s son, Thomas J. Pfaff, of Warrington; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly L. Pfaff; and her dear granddaughter Tara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave., (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Road) New Britain, PA 18901; and 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, before her Funeral Mass 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Euclid Ave. & Carriage Way, Warrington, PA 18976. Her interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Doylestown Hospital, c/o Development Office, 595 West State St., Doylestown, PA 18901.
