John D. Pizzi Jr. of Langhorne, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 on his 86th birthday.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy T. Santicerma Pizzi.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John D. Pizzi Sr. and Maria Domenica Renzi Pizzi.
Mr. Pizzi was a proud Army Veteran who served in the Pacific during World War II. He has been a resident of Langhorne for 26 Years. In 1953 he and his wife founded John’s Market in South Philadelphia. In 1978 he opened Family Food Markets, New Falls Road Levittown. He retired in 1984.
John was an avid collector of world coins and a Presidential history buff.
John was a faithful communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland, and held a Special devotion to Blessed Pope John Paul II. He will be sadly missed by everyone who has come to know and love him and by everyone whom he made laugh with his many different jokes.
In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his 2 children Angelina M. Verna and her husband Tony of Langhorne, PA, and John D. Pizzi III and his wife Doreen of Philadelphia, PA, his 2 sisters Rita Argondizza and Mae Veneziale. He is also survived by his 4 loving grandchildren Anthony M. Verna, III, Nicole Snyder (James), Deanna, and Michael Pizzi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday April 20, 2011, from 9:00 am until his Funeral Mass 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Rd. Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to St. Bede the Venerable Building Fund 1071 Holland Rd. Holland, PA 18966, or to St. Mary Medical Center Foundation 1717 Langhorne-Newtown Rd. Langhorne, PA 19047.
