Francis Xavier Faris, 92, a resident of Severna Park, died on May 16, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

He was born on December 20, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, He was a member of the first class, graduating in1936, of South Catholic High School. Mr. Faris served in the U.S. Army during WW II and the Korean War. After WWII he began an apprenticeship to become a machinist at the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia PA. As a machinist by trade he built the first mold used to make a Styrofoam cup for his brother-in-law, Harry Harp, of Double H Plastics. Mr. Faris also worked for a time as a photographer with his brother-in-law, Jim Forsyth, at Forsyth & Faris.

Moving out of the shop he began his career in Procurement where he rose to the position of Head of Procurement at the Frankford Arsenal, retiring after 37 years. Frank and his wife of 50 years, Ann, enjoyed wintering in Holiday, Florida for over 20 years.
He lived the past 4 years in Severna Park in Cape Arthur.

He was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Millay Club for Graduates of South Catholic, a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park, and former member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Philadelphia.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from 9-11 am at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 S. Sycamore St, Newtown, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.

Mr. Faris was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Theresa Faris (nee King), his parents, Walter & Sarah Faris and his sisters Sara Forsyth and Mary Harp, and brothers Walter, George, Tom, and Harry Faris.

Survivors include his son, Francis X. Faris, Jr. of Baltimore and three daughters, Mary Anne Dorman (Bill) of Arnold, Lorraine Faris of Severna Park, and Kathleen Sands of St. Petersburg, FL. He was also survived by four grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great grandson.
