Jack King Callender, Jr., an inspiration to his family, friends, and community, passed away on Tuesday, May 17th at his home in Ivyland, PA, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jack was born on March 18th, 1959, in Schenectady, New York, but resided most of his life in Bucks County.

Jack first attended East Stroudsburg University but later transferred to West Virginia University in order to be with the love of his life, Sandra Clopton Callender. Jack was the Founder and President of Caltech Manufacturing, Inc., in Ivyland, PA, and also CalTent Party Rentals. Jack, a born leader and motivator, built his successful companies from his commitment to “hard work” and building relationships. Jack was involved in his community and was a member of the Defiance Lodge, Knights of Pythias.

Jack touched the lives of every single person who knew him. He was an amazing husband to his devoted wife, Sandy, of over 25 years and was idolized by his three sons, Jack King Callender, III, Jamie Scott Callender, and Tyler Stevens Callender. Left to cherish his memory are also his loving parents, Jack Sr. and Marjorie Callender; his sister, Joy Callender and her fiancé, Richard Lowinger; his parents-in-law, Edward and June Clopton; his sister-in-law and her husband, Terri and Gary Brasseur; his brothers-in-law and their wives, Edward and Sheryl Clopton, Scott and Irene Clopton; his nieces and nephews, Aimee, Jake, Marissa, Nadine, Emilee, and Emma; and his many devoted friends.

He loved and cherished his wife, Sandy, and their boys. He never missed a single function for his children and was their biggest fan and mentor. His sons and hundreds of other kids in the community were blessed to be coached by Jack in football, baseball and wrestling. Jack was loved and admired as a football coach at Council Rock North, Richboro Middle, Northampton Indians football and Pop Warner Peewee football and also as a Northampton baseball coach, the Richboro Middle wrestling coach as well as the president of the Council Rock North booster club. In 2010, Jack won the Northampton Township Distinguished Citizen Award for his accomplishments as a coach and member of his community. Jack taught kids to be winners not only in sports but also in life, with his mottos: “hard work,” “not too low, not too high” and “finish the mission.”

Jack was a true champion in life and in his battle with cancer. Through his entire illness, he inspired many with his devotion to his faith and fought not just for himself but for all of his family and friends, as well. He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings on Sunday, evening May 22nd 2011 from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am, at St. John’s United Methodist Church 820 Almshouse Rd. Ivyland, PA. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Richboro.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Council Rock Baseball Association, PO Box 461, Richboro, PA 18954.
