Roy Porta
Roy C. Porta of Kintnersville, PA died on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his residence with his family by his side. He was 62.
Roy was born in Philadelphia and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco with his parents and younger sister. Roy returned to Pennsylvania and started working in the Elevator business that his grandfather started many years prior. Roy eventually took the helm of the business and oversaw the day to day operation for over 20 years. He sold the business and continued to work as a consulting designer to the elevator industry until he retired.
Roy’s interests were wide ranging and eclectic from racing cars to painting pastels, planting wildflower gardens and caring for his pets.
A continuing source of meaning and spiritual renewal for Roy was through his connection with his cherished friends in the 12-Step fellowship of NA. Roy will be remembered for many things, among them his passion and relentless dedication to helping other people recover from addiction and of course his love, caring and support for his family.
God blessed Roy and he shared those blessings with all who knew him.
Much happiness, joy and freedom is yours. Until we meet again, “Maureen”.
The date of Roy’s Life Celebration will be determined shortly and Interment will be Private.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 701 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19123 or Mitchell Farm Equine Retirement, 300 E. Haddam Rd., (Rt. 82) Salem, CT 06420.
