Lawrence E. Olejkowski, of Chalfont, PA passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, at Majestic Oaks, Warminster. He was 85.
He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Laura McEntee Olejkowski.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley and Theresa Pubenc Olejkowski and brother of the late Stanley Olejkowski.
Larry grew up in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Northeast High School. He was talented with his hands and eventually went to work as a machinist with Rohm and Haas. He worked with them at both their Bristol and Springhouse locations for over 30 years before retiring in 1986. He was a committed bachelor until meeting his beloved Laura whom he married in February of 1975 and then moved to Chalfont in 1977. He loved to keep busy at home, from tinkering with little things around the house to refinishing rooms to adding full additions. In addition to finishing his own home, he built a vacation home in the Pocono Mountains which they treasured for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors and appreciated all aspects of nature and was as comfortable in the mountains as he was on a cruise ship. More than his adventures outdoors and building accomplishments his real love was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is also survived by his step children, Laura Lynn Settles and her husband Steven of Richmond Hill, GA, Deborah Beruf of Chalfont, a former son in law Richard Beruf of Glenside, his brother Edwin Olejkowski and his wife Joanne of York, PA, his 3 sisters, Helen Mellor of Churchville, PA, Bernadine Peahota and her husband William of Chalfont, Leona Opalkowski and her husband Casey of Philadelphia and his sister in law Marie Olejkowski of Glenside. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 19 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Friday, July 8, 2011, from 9:00 am until his Funeral Mass 10:00 am at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave. Chalfont, PA 18914. Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
