Ira V. Wright of Holland, PA died peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Holy Redeemer Hospice in Meadowbrook, PA with his family at his side. He was 87.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Finney Wright who recently died on June 25, 2011 after 64 years of marriage.
Born on April 22, 1924 in Yardley, PA, he was the son of the late Willard W. and Lillian Blackwell Wright and brother of the late John Wright and Herbert Wright.
A resident of Holland since 1946, he graduated from Morrisville High School and Rider College. He also attended Baylor University in Waco, TX. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II for more than three years and after retirement greatly enjoyed annual trips to various destinations with his army comrades. He was employed as Vice President at the First National Bank of Newtown before retiring in 1989. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, Troop 5 where he was treasurer for over 20 years and North and Southampton Reformed Church where he was financial secretary for many years and also served on the cemetery committee for over 20 years. He and his late wife loved to travel and visited all 50 states plus parts of South America and Europe and England. They also organized numerous family gatherings for holidays and special occasions. He will be sadly missed as a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
Ira is survived by his sister, Jean Hallowell of Newtown, PA, four children, Robert W. Wright of Newtown, Gary A. Wright and his wife, Loretta, of Manasquan, NJ, Debra W. Reynolds and her husband, Doug, of Quakertown, PA, and Glenn F. Wright and his wife, Katherine, of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, July 28, 2011, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966.
Interment will take place at Churchville Cemetery.
There will be a luncheon following the service in the church auditorium.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to North & Southampton Reformed Church at the above address.
