Shirley I. Grundy of Warminster, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Grace Hospital, Morganton, NC with her family at her side holding her hand. She was 80.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald R. Grundy Sr.

Born in St. Michael, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Ritchey Gittins and sister of the late William Gittins and June Reighard.

Mrs. Grundy was a resident of Warminster for many years where she lived with her daughter and family. She graduated from Blacklick High School and Windber School of Nursing. For over 20 years, Mrs. Grundy enjoyed her work as a registered nurse at Moss Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia. Growing up, Shirley spent many years as a soloist in various churches in the St. Michael and Twin Rocks, PA area where she shared her beautiful voice. She was extremely family oriented and her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren who were her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of reaching out to others and selflessness beyond comparison. She was a true example of treating others with pure compassion and an immense inspiration to her daughter and grandchildren to continue her efforts in helping others. She will be sadly missed as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her five children, Gerald R. Grundy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Philadelphia, Josephine Cooke and her husband, Roy, of Valdese, NC, Mary Alice Brancato and her husband, Carman, of Warminster, John Grundy and his wife, Kelly, of Haymarket, VA, and Shirley Gimbel and her husband, Jason, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday, August 6, 2011, from 9:30 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1795 Columbia Avenue (Easton & County Line Roads), Warrington, PA 18976.

Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
