John F. McKeogh, of Churchville, died suddenly on Thursday August 4, 2011, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 68.
He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Eleanor Stehel McKeogh. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward P. Sr., and Regina C. Lyons McKeogh.
A native of Philadelphia, John was a resident of Bucks County since 1972. A graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, class of 1960 and LaSalle University of 1964 with his degree in English. He received his Master Degree in Journalism from the University of Texas (El Paso). He additionally earned his MBA from Widener University and holds an MS from the University of Pennsylvania in Communications. John also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict. After the service in 1966 he joined Scott Paper Company in Chester and in 1967 was named Operations Manager for College Relations. He later assumed responsibility for management development, employee communications and community affairs for Scott Paper Co. In 1972 he joined First Pennsylvania Corporation as Director of Public Relations and was elected vice president in 1974.
John joined Rohm and Hass Company in 1976 as director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations and in 1999 he was appointed vice-president. In 2005 John was named director of Public Affairs. Due to John's professional skills and talent, he was hand picked to build Rohm and Haas’s Communications and Public Relations department during a challenging time for the Philadelphia-based company. He retired in 2009 leaving a legacy unequal to many.
John gave his time and talents not only to work but also to St. Vincent de Paul Church where he served on many committees and worked tireless. His devotion and love for his family and grandchildren were to be admired and he was always looking forward to the time he spent with them.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children; Elena Spearing and her husband Daniel J., John T. McKeogh and Brian M. McKeogh and his wife Natalie: his 2 brothers and their wives Edward P. McKeogh Jr. and his wife Mary, James McKeogh and his wife Margaret, his sister Margaret Gardner and her husband Joseph. He is also survived by his 5 devoted grandchildren: MacKenzie, Daniel and Mikayla Spearing and Grayson and Colton McKeogh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings Monday evening, August 8, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Tuesday August 9, 2011from 9:00 to 9:45am at Saint Vincent de Paul Church. His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church 654 Hatboro Rd. Richboro, PA 18954. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
