David Sime Jr. of Hilltown and formerly of Washington Crossing, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Lutheran Community of Telford. He was 80.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, David was the son of the late David and Maybelle Mader Sime.
Mr. Sime grew up in Garden City, NY, and earned his bachelor’s degree in government from Wesleyan University in Middleton, CT, before continuing on to Cornell University Law School. After a year, he entered the US Army and served as an Army Airborne Ranger during the Korean Conflict.
Following his service in the Army, he returned home and enrolled at Babson College in MA, where he earned his master’s degree in business administration. He then began working with Manufacturers Hanover in New York developing their mergers and acquisitions department and later moved to Pennsylvania where he served as the Director of Mergers and Acquisitions with Thiokol Corporation. In 1981, David founded Growth Ventures Incorporated.
David retired for a brief time and then in his early 70’s returned to the work force, this time as an Investment Officer for Overseas Private Investment Corp. (OPIC) in Washington, DC.
His talents in the board room were equally paralleled on the athletic field. He was a nationally ranked wrestler during his college years as well as a champion badminton player. He was also an accomplished pianist and enjoyed sharing his talents with his family and friends.
David is survived by his 3 loving daughters and their spouses; Dana Cozza and Paul of Hilltown, Debra Kilgariff and David of Solebury, Pamela Sime-Cummins and Jeff of Chalfont. He is also survived by his sister Vivienne “Sistie” Lewis, her husband Tom, and his 6 grandchildren; Abigail and Kathryn Cozza, David, Christina and Matthew Kilgariff and Jessica Strong.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Sunday evening, August 14, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901 and to his Funeral Service on Monday, August 15, 2011, 12:45PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 47 West Afton Ave. Yardley, PA 19067. Interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery Newtown, PA
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Lutheran Community at Telford 235 N. Washington Street, Telford, PA 18969.
