J. Russell Fawley, Jr., of Doylestown, PA died on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Pine Run Health Care. He was 82.

He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Ruth Weaver Fawley.

Born in Wissahickon, Philadelphia, he was the son of the late J. Russell and Helen Semple Fawley.

Russ grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from William Penn Charter School in 1950 and then continued on to Trinity College where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1954. He then joined the US Army and served in Korea until he was honorably discharged in July of 1956.

Upon returning home he worked in the family business and ultimately became President of John Wilde and Bro. Inc., in Manayunk, which was a spinning mill owned by the family for 130 years. He enjoyed running and was an avid distance runner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Nancy E. Fawley of Las Vegas, NV, Amanda F. and Chris Mele of North Bethesda, MD, and Daniel R. and Rachel Fawley of Cherry Hill, NJ. He is also survived by his three grandchildren; Vincent, Erika and Anna.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 10:30 am until his Memorial Service 11:30am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment was held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
