Francella F. Smith of Newtown died peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Pickering Manor Home. She was 86.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harold “Bud” A. Smith.

Born in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Gertrude Ferlic Smith.

She attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where she obtained her liberal arts degree. Her long and dedicated career as a school teacher began in 1950. She began teaching in the Pennsbury School District where she remained for 35 years until her retirement.

Fran was involved with the Newtown Historical Association, Pickering Manor Auxiliary, Saint Mary Medical Center and Bucks County Singers. She was a faithful communicant of Church of Saint Andrew in Newtown.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and was an avid reader of fine books.

Fran is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, August 22,, 2014, from 10:00 AM until her Prayer Service 11:00AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will take place at Newtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary Medical Center, 1201 Langhorne-Newtown Road, Langhorne, PA 19047.
