Emma V. Dungan of Holland passed away on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at her residence in Twining Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was 100 years old.
Born in Feasterville, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Lefferts VanArtsdalen.
Emma and her husband of 74 years, the late Samuel S. Dungan, owned Dungan’s Store in Feasterville prior to moving to Solebury, Buckingham Springs and Twining. In addition to her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by three siblings.
Emma was a life-long Bucks County resident and a dedicated long-time member of the North & Southampton Reformed Church in Churchville. During her membership with the church she served as choir director and organist and was devoted to her work with Aid for Friends.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was known for sharing her creations, from slippers to afghans, with those whom she loved and cared for. Her positive attitude was impossible to miss and she grew and thrived through the many good works she did for others during her life.
Emma spent the last eight years of her life residing at Twining. The residents and employees will miss her greatly and her family wishes to thank the dedicated staff for the compassionate care they provided to Emma and her family during her time there.
Surviving are her children, Norma Brink of Placerville, CA, Ron Dungan and his wife Donna of Richboro, and Donna Drexler and her husband Leif of Quakertown; her beloved grandchildren, Nancy Mandes (Vince), Michael Brink (Becky), Mark Dungan (Helen), Karen Borchard (James), Jodi Dungan (Stephen), Scott Drexler (Kimi), Lori Brink, and Greg Drexler (Avani). She also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Saturday August 23, 2014 from 3 PM until her 4 PM Memorial Service at the North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the North & Southampton Reformed Church at the above address.
