John Locke Rowley of Yardley, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, surrounded by his family at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 69.
He was the beloved husband of Linda C. Maccabee Rowley for 37 years.
Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late John L. and Rosamond Lace Rowley.
Mr. Rowley was a resident of Yardley for the past 26 years. He proudly served his country for 6½ years in the US Army. He was an Airborne Ranger and a Vietnam veteran, having served as a captain with the First Infantry, Corp of Engineers completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. Before his retirement, he was employed by Mobil Oil Corporation for 29 years. During his career he worked on service station conversions out of the New York office, was a district engineer in Albany and a construction engineer in Buffalo. He also worked worldwide in project management in the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Japan, and Qatar; and in facilities management in Pennington, NJ. He was a member of Yardley United Methodist Church and served as president and historian of Bucks County Mobil Annuitants. In his leisure time, John enjoyed tennis, skiing, fishing, boating, camping, gardening, bridge, travel, and photography.
He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christi Lin Rowley of Yardley, PA; his brother, Frederick Rowley of Greenville, RI; his sisters, Rosamond Rowley Hohman of Grafton, MA; Ann Rowley Prokopowics of Cranston, RI; and Meredith Rowley Smith and her husband, Dennis Smith, of Scituate, RI. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Maccabee of Hinesville, GA; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 19, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. until his Memorial Service 11:00 A.M. at Yardley United Methodist Church, 300 Langhorne-Yardley Road, Yardley, PA 19067. His interment will be private.
