Dorothy Claire Conn Dunphy, a resident of Holland for the past 10 years formerly of Langhorne, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Chandler Hall Hospice, surrounded by her devoted family.
She was the beloved wife of 40 years to late Thomas J. Dunphy, who died in 1983. Born in 1921 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Curry Conn; she was predeceased by her 3 sisters, Marie Henry, Lillian Collins, Eleanor Kane and her 2 brothers, William and Edward Conn and great grandson Doveo Chevere.
Dorothy was a graduate of John W. Hallahan High School for Girls, class of 1939. She worked as a secretary for a law firm in Philadelphia for several years. In 1958 she joined her husband at Tom Dunphy Realty in Northeast Philadelphia working as his assistant for many years. For the past 28 years Dorothy was the Beloved and proud Matriarch of the Family, her love and devotion to her family was to be admired and envied.
Dorothy was a prayerful member of the St. Ephrem Catholic Daughters, St. Bede Young at Heart Club and the Council Rock Seniors, her participation will be missed. She was also a former secretary and member of the Lioness Club of Huntingdon Valley and the Women’s Realty Board of North Philadelphia.
Her Family and her home were first and foremost with Dorothy, the love and caring she showered upon her children and especially her 20 grandchildren and especially and 29 great grandchildren was to be admired.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Dottie Anne Sexton and her husband Frank of New Hope, Thomas J, Dunphy, Jr and his wife Kathleen of Holland, Michael B. Dunphy and his wife Janet of Philadelphia and Maripat Huhn and her husband Joe of Langhorne, and her 20 loving grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings Friday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 8:15am to 9:15 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and to her Funeral Mass 10:00am at St. Bede the Venerable Church, Holland Rd. Holland PA. Interment will be at St. Dominic's Cemetery, Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Tree of Hope, 252 W. Swamp Rd. Unit 12, Doylestown PA 18901-5576
