Larry S. Larsen, of Doylestown and Jupiter, FL died on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He was 73.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to June Maimone Larsen.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Emil and Elizabeth Krisch Larsen.
Larry grew up in Wilmington, DE and was a talented basketball player at Sharon Hill High School, and was offered several athletic scholarships to play in college. Ultimately, his decision led him to The Citadel.
Upon completion of his education at The Citadel, Larry began a career in freight logistics. Throughout his career he held various executive positions with several companies, which included owning his own trucking company. After Larry retired from the trucking business he worked briefly at the Bucks County Courthouse as an assistant in the courtrooms. His interest in work soon changed and turned towards spending more time at his home in Jupiter Florida with his wife. Then in 2003 they moved to Florida, became residents. It was only a few months during the summer that they came back to Bucks County where they lived for over 45 years.
Larry was a talented athlete throughout his life. Not only did he love playing sports he enjoyed watching them and rooting for all Philadelphia sports teams. However, once his time in organized sports dissipated, golf became his passion. For many years was a member of Doylestown Country Club and most recently at Riverbend Golf Club in Jupiter Florida where he will be missed this year on the course, by his friends.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children, Lisa Ventresca and her husband Frank of Doylestown, Larry Larsen Jr. and his wife Mimi of Winchester, VA, and Erik Larsen and his wife Amy of Charleston, SC, and his sister Beth Rowe and her husband Joseph of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service 10:00 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Route 202 & Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment will be held privately.
