Julius Menhardt Jr. of Richboro, PA died on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 82.

He was the beloved husband of Helen Koestel Menhardt for 56 years.

Born in Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Julius Sr. and Julie Gally Menhardt and brother of the late John Menhardt and Edward Menhardt.

Jules, as he was known to all, was born on November 30, 1929 in the German region of Czechoslovakia. Raised on a farm, he lived through the horrors of World War II. After losing his older brother, John, on the last day of the war, the family immigrated to America and settled in Philadelphia. Soon afterwards, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and sent to Korea where he proudly served his country. After the war, he worked as a carpenter and soon started his own contracting company.

Jules was a life long member of the United German Hungarian Club in Feasterville and Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Somerton section of Philadelphia, where he was instrumental in the construction of the bell tower.

In his leisure time, he was a devoted fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams, but especially loved soccer and skiing the most. His legacy will forever be a passion for life, a love for his family and friends, and for having a generous heart. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children, Heidi M. Ryder and her husband, Bill, of Warminster, PA, Kurt J. Menhardt and his wife, Linda, of Lower Gwynedd, PA and Werner J. Menhardt and his companion, Lisa Fenton, of Doylestown, PA. He is also survived by his 10 loving grandchildren; Shawn, Caitlin, Amber, Jaclyn, Devin, Dillon, Madison, Mason, Quinn and Brian.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, December 15, 2011, from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116.

Interment will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address or to United German Hungarian Club, 4666 Bristol Road, Oakford, PA 19053.
