Frederick G. Schmauk, III died peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Chandler Hall, Newtown. He was 81.

Frederick was the beloved husband of the late Johanna Nagel Schmauk.

Born in Abington, PA, he was the son of the late Frederick G., Jr. and Helen Weineck Schmauk.

Fred was a proud veteran of the Navy having served during the Korean Conflict and he was also a graduate of the University of Florida. He was an active Boy Scout who was just a badge shy of obtaining Eagle Scout certification. Fred worked for many years with the Federal Government as an Architect. He also designed and built his own home and also designed homes for numerous family and friends. After his retirement from FEMA, Fred enjoyed spending time with the love of his life Joannie, who was his high school sweet heart. He enjoyed traveling the world, skiing, tennis, biking, and playing the Accordion. Fred also shared a love with nature and was an avid gardener and arborist. He enjoyed the company of the family dogs who in turn loved him immensely .

Fred was a consummate family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren creating lasting memories with them on the numerous camping trips they went on throughout their lives. Fred and Joannie always stayed very close with the friends that they formed bonds with from elementary school and on throughout their lives. He will be sorely missed by everyone who has come to know and love him.

Fred is survived by his children, Frederick G. Schmauk, IV and his wife Patricia of Langhorne, Debra J. Hamilton and her husband Kevin of Wycombe, PA, Barbara A. O’Brien and her husband Richard of Furlong, PA, and Robert S. Schmauk and his wife Sandra of Furlong, PA. He is also survived by his 2 brothers Richard and David Schmauk and 14 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings, Sunday evening January 15, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Monday, January 16, 2012 from 9:00 am until his Funeral Service at 10:00AM from the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery Roslyn, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277 Lahaska, PA 18931 or to the American Parkinson Disease Association Crozer Medical Centre, President’s Drive Upland, PA 19013.
