Theresa Marie Kownacky
Theresa Marie Kownacky of Holland died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Twining Village Health Care in Holland.
Theresa was the beloved wife of the late Robert Kownacky.
Theresa, better known as “Terry”, was born in Philadelphia in 1928, to Cecilia, nee Cannon, Hilpl from Donegal, Ireland and Charles Hilpl. Terry was a graduate of St. Dominic’s commercial school and worked for several firms as a secretary. Terry and Bob married in 1950.
Terry was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to Holland in 1967. She was a parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland. Terry was an active member of St. Bede’s Women’s Club, organizing the widely-attended St. Paddy’s Day dance for many years as well as assisting with tours to Europe sponsored by St. Bede’s. She also volunteered countless hours at Villa Joseph Marie, helping the elderly who were frail and lonely.
Terry loved to dance, to bowl, to travel, to invite her large extended family for regular “cook-outs”. She was easily the consummate multi-tasker, capable of turning chaos into order in the blink of an eye. Terry will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by all.
Terry is survived by her dearest children and their spouses, Janice Treasa Glinnwater and her husband John Espy of Ronan, Montana, Sharon and William Zimmermann of Lower Macungie, PA, Robert and Adine Kownacky of Lumberton, NJ, and Brian and Rhoda Kownacky of Collingswood, NJ. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Services and Interment were held at the convenience of the family.
If so desired, contributions in her memory may be made to the compassionate hospice care provided by Care Alternatives, 501 Office Center Drive, Suite 285, Ft. Washington, PA 19034.
