Genevieve B. Hanes of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Aria Hospital, Bucks County Campus, with her devoted and caring husband and soul mate of 17 years, Stephen A. Hanes, by her side. She was 61.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Henry G. and Genevieve Brennan Thomas and the sister of the late Robert Thomas and Michele Clauzeau.
Genevieve will be greatly missed by her loving husband, sons and daughters-in-law. She was the proud mother of Rick Bennett and his wife Jeanine, and Bryan Bennett and his wife Jennifer, and Jordan Hanes. She devoted her entire life to her grandchildren, Logan and Olivia, Charlee and Sam, and Nicholas and Mallorie.
In addition to her husband, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, she is survived by a brother, Hank Thomas, and two sisters, Barbara Mace and Mary Rooney. She was the caring aunt of several nieces and nephews, including her newly found and dearly beloved French family. With her passing, she will join her brother, Robert, and sister, Michele, each of whom she greatly missed and never left her heart or mind.
To her husband, she was a best friend and soul mate. To her sons, she was a proud, loving and supportive mother who overlooked faults, encouraged dreams and celebrated successes. To her daughters-in-law, she was a trusted friend, confidant and sounding board.
To her grandchildren, she was everything — devoted protector, wise teacher, tireless playmate and, above all, the greatest “Oma” that anyone could ever ask for. She taught them how to love completely, give unconditionally and laugh wholeheartedly.
She was a remarkable person who will always have a cherished place in our memories and hearts. Those closest to her are comforted by the fact that she was surrounded constantly by the people she most dearly loved in the last few months of her life. She was a friend and mother to them all, and her arms were always open to them.
Genevieve’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro from 9:00 a.m. until her prayer service at 10:30a.m., after the prayer service, any remembrances or memories of Genevieve will be welcomed. Fellowship will follow.
