John C. Skelly, of Willow Street, PA died on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at The Glen at Willow Valley Retirement Community in Willow Street, PA. He was 83.

He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Gertrude Fetzer Skelly.

Born in Tyrone, PA he was the son of the late Frank Clark and Edwarda Collin Skelly and father of the late Steven Clark Skelly and John Edward Skelly, brother of the late William C. Skelly and Edwarda Skelly Hess.

John was a resident of Willow Street, PA for the past 7 years, having formerly lived in Washington Crossing till 2005. John was a graduate of Tyrone High School, class of 1946 and a graduate of Penn State University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering. He was a proud member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict during which time he played the French horn in the 8th Infantry Division and the 316th Army Bands, also serving as Drum Major in both as well as the Post Bagpipe Band. John’s professional career spanned 50 years having worked for Crane Plumbing Fixture Manufacturing Company, Porcelana Sanitaria in Bogota, Colombia and American Standard from 1950 through 2000.

In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children, Jean Marie Skelly of Victoria BC and Peter F. Skelly and his wife Tina of Bethlehem, his 2 brothers and their wives David C. Skelly and his wife Marilyn of Pittsburg and Robert C. Skelly and his wife Louise of Mechanicsburg PA, he is also survived by 4 caring grandchildren, William L. and Whitney M. Stringer and John L. and Christopher M. Skelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing Friday, February 17, 2012 from 10:00am until his Funeral Service at 11:00am at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 1700 Makefield Rd. Yardley, PA. 19067.

Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA.

All are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday February 18, 2012 at 11:00am in the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 600 E. Penn Grant Rd. Willow Street PA 17584.

Those wishing to do so may make donations to the Endowment Fund at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension at the above address.
