Walter Russell “Russ” LeNoir of Hatboro died peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was 94.
He was the beloved husband of the late Kathryn E. Uhlig LeNoir.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the third of eight children of Francis A. and Martha Opperman LeNoir.
Russ lived in Feasterville for 45 years. There, he and his wife were founders of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on many committees and was a long time church council member. An engineer and Army veteran, he served during World War II and worked on cryptology machines.
For the past 17 years, Russ was an active and popular neighbor at Gloria Dei Farms in Hatboro. He tirelessly helped out his friends and community, offering his budgeting, woodworking and fix-it-all skills. Traveling was another passion. Family was most important of all and he was the most devoted father, grandfather and great
grandfather who is deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his dear daughters, Janet L. Hayden and her husband, John, of Cape Cod, Mass., Joyce L. Heiss and her husband, Raymond, of Ivyland and his two sisters, Helen Wilson of Stuart, Fla. and Anna May Cesare of Mt Laurel , N.J. He also leaves six loving grandchildren, Kathleen Hayden, Gregory Heiss, Kendra Hayden, Kristen Heiss Stewart (Patrick), Eric Heiss (Leigh) and Keith Hayden and a great-grandson, Benjamin Heiss.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until his Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. at St.Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 E. Street Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.
Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St.Stephen’s Memorial Fund at the above address.
